Reproduction of a painting by French artist Pierre Brebiette (circa 1598-1642) of a classical theme well-trodden by numerous artists during the Renaissance and post-Renaissance periods. The painting's sensual, 'glowing' colours are partly the result of Brebiette's unusual choice of oil paint on a sheet of engraved copper. It is one of only very few Brebiette paintings to have survived, along with several drawings.
